Installed windows 7 - want to remove XP

BTW error code 5 usually indicates your pc can't handle the win 7 install dvd. You will probably find it can boot other install dvd's .e.g. Vista /XP.

Were you able to boot the 7 dvd previously on that machine?

You might find there is a mobo bios update that will fix it. But, unless you are quite experienced, it's probably best not to try and update the bios.

Otherwise, if you want a bootable Win7 dvd for installation /repairs, you need to remake it using the Vista bootsector instead.

Ok theog, thanks for helping me alot. You are my saviour. I was able to get windows 7 on here on a fresh instal by using the floppy disk method. Worked perfectly. Now I'm on windows 7 again but with the full HDD space. So thanks.
