Windows 7 Rc problem

Hi Gang

I installed the first Beta version with no hitches, but getting this 7 RC to go is giving me problems.

I have a dual boot, XP pro on one drive, and the 7 beta on the other drive. Now I backed every thing up on the 7 beta drive, that I want to run the 7 RC on. Am I right in thinking this 7 RC when you burn it to a disk it has the boot up properties in it.? When I click on the folder to where I down loaded it to, it brings up the download with a litttle Nero icon beside it. Now this being a ISO file, does this need to be changed to a different kind of file to work correctly.? Or should I just let Nero burn it, to a disk.? And if it does this it should boot up to it when I am in my windows 7.?

Yes you can boot from the RC DVD. Im not sure how nero works personally but with ImgBurn you just insert the iso and it burns the image to disc, the iso includes the boot info.

Ya I have Imgburn. I tried to do this yesterday with Nero burning it, and it would not boot upto it. Twice as a matter of fact. I thought the first time maybe a bad or incomplete dwnload, but happening twice I don't know. So does IMgburn change the files or do they stay as ISO files. I thought I read where you have to change the files, from ISO to something else in order for the boot to work right.

Double clicking the .iso using Nero default settings worked every time for me. Boot from dvd and perform clean install (appears to be way faster and less buggy than upgrading from existing version) Backup data first

Have you checked your bios to make sure the boot order lists the dvd drive before the HD?

Ya I have every thing backed up. Now on the fresh install I am a little foggy on that. When you say this do you mean I should format that 7 beta drive, so nothing is on it.? Because even though I backed it up there are things still on that drive. I have always been a little foggy on this because to me a fresh drive is one that is clean of everything. Not just one that has been backed up.

Just a thought. Are you meaning that when you do the install it will erase everything, and this is what is meant as a fresh install.????

Ok so you are saying I don't need to format the Win 7 drove by clean install, when you go to install the new Win 7 RC it will automatically erase anything that is left on there, even though you backed up your stuff. And you will wind up with a clean install of Win 7 RC.

Got ya, don't mean to come off so ignorant here, but you live and you learn by asking questions from people that know the answers. You people know about this stuff and I know about cars, its a trade off. I am learning though.
