    installing win 7 RC

    Hi all,
I installed win 7 beta the day that it came out overtop my Vista, It was a charm installing it, all drivers were there, all programs worked and win 7 beta was a winner, everything was so smooth.
I installed win RC early yesterday morning and i am still at it, and of course i had to do a clean install, what a nightmare, no drivers were installed for my hardware, just for the printer it took me 3 hrs to finally install it.
It went the same for all my other hardware, also some of my bought programs would not install (still) even if they were working fine under the beta.
I am thinking of re-installing windows vista even if i loved the beta.
I wish you fellows have better luck then me.

Hello Claude, and welcome to Seven Forums.

It's usually best to do a clean install to avoid issues with remnants of the previous OS. Especially if you have already done a upgrade to the previous OS.

You might see if using Compatibility Mode on the installation files for the programs that will not install to see if it may help.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Thanks for the fast response Shawn.
I managed to get some programs to work using compatibility mode, I had to buy the upgrade of the 2009 version of "Diskeeper" for it to work but "Network Magic" another bought program would not install even the latest trial program would not install.

    Cluade,

I managed to install the "Network Magic" trial version on my 64-bit Windows 7 RC without any problems or having to Compatibility Mode.

You might double check to see if you sill meet all of the requirements for it. If you do, then you might send a email to their product support to see if they may have a solution for it.

If you still have compatibility issues with your programs, you might want to give http://www.microsoft.com/windows/vir.../download.aspx a try.
