No problem. I'm sorry I can't be more help. I notice that Brink and various other heavyweights are not online at the moment.
I'm sure you'll get some good advice soon, john:)
Hello Welcome to SevenForums,Dabooga
Hope that you have a good stay here on SF.
Try reburning your dvd at a slower speed like 1x or 2x
Hello Dabooga.
Since I've made over 30 installs so far to different PCs, I can tell you this:
Some particular PCs with their particular hardware (I believe it's either the memory, the ide controllers or the chipset in general,or a BIOS setting) take really long time at that screen where you're stuck...but then eventually the Select your language page appears...In some PCs I had to wait for over 10 minutes ...
So my guess is that after 3-4 minutes you got tired of waiting and kept restarting.. Let it for about 10-15 minutes do its searching and see if you will get the install screen eventually. It has happened to me for booting both from DVD and/or USB, so I don't think its the medium.Just wait for 10-15 minutes at that screen.
Note: after you choose your initial settings, there will be another long delay at the "setup is starting" screen... Don't get dissapointed there either . Just wait again. It is a problem that happens only during those setup steps, you wont have delays ever again using W7.
Hope this is your case . Hope it works.
Cheers
