    Windows 7: I'm confused

I have recently bought a custom built computer running windows XP and I have decided to buy the latest windows OS.
Now, should I go with the reliable 32 bit or the future ready 64 bit?
    These are my PC's specifications:

    Motherboard: Asrock Dual Core VSTA
    Processor: Intel Pentium D 805 (Dual Core) 2.66GHz SL8ZH Skt 775
Memory: 2GB (2x1GB) DDR PC3200 400MHz (Two more available slots)
    Graphics Card: GeForce 9500GT 1GB GDDR2 DVI PCI-Express

Now, as I don't have the fastest processor in the world, I wasn't sure if it could manage the 64 bit version.
And I currently only have 2gb ram, but could be upgraded in the future.
I also have allot of old games and programs that I fear that would not work or would have problems in the 64 bit version.

    32 or 64? Ah I cant decide!

If you plan to add more than 3.5GB go with x64
Stick with 32-bit if you plan to use 2GB but you'll have to do a clean install of x64 if you upgrade to 4GB+

I'm running the 32 bit version of W7 Pro on one laptop with 2 Gb RAM due it not being a 64 bit system. I was also running a 64 bit W7 Pro on another laptop that had 4 Gb RAM (now 8 Gb) and to be honest the 32 bit laptop was just as fast loading and running as the 64 bit laptop which was astounding considering it's almost 6 y/o.

You will not be sorry with the 32 bit version and as already been said if you plan to go over 4 Gb at some point you'll need to do a fresh install of the 64 bit version. This may be a good time to think about upgrading your RAM and maybe picking up an SSD as the repository for your Windows 7 load.

I had to check whether the Pentium 805 D supports X64.

    It does.

I suggest staying with X86 (32 bit), though, as long as you can live with 4GB of RAM or less. X64 has more compatibility issues with older software.
