    Windows 7 Installation

    Hello,
I have bought the Original Windows 7 Ultimate and installed onto the Dell Latitude D830 which has previous OS as Windows Vista Business. Now I want to know , if I change the System and buy a new system and downgrade the OS of the current system with the CD given with the DELL system, Can I install Window 7 in the New system, as I have the Original CD with me. Are there any activation issues with the OS. Please Help.

    Thank you

Yes you can restore Vista Business on the Dell and reclaim the Win7 Ultimate to use on another machine.

The only question is if you have Upgrade or Full Version Ultimate, as if you have an Upgrade then you will need to use it to upgrade another XP or Vista OS in order to qualify for Upgrade version.

If it is full version it can go anywhere regardless of whether there is a qualifying OS to upgrade.

Once you overwrite it on the old machine, it will likely require a quick activation robocall to update the hardware signature for the new machine.

I think you are good to go.
Worst case a call to Microsoft to reset the key, but hopefully not.
I had to call them because I was upgrading from XP, and I have wiped my PC at least 4 times since and I have yet to have to call again, I have had to re-activate, but they have a web page or .exe that can do that too.

Here: Genuine Microsoft Software - Use to re-verify Win7

Definitely bookmark that, I especially put here for future searching on the subject of reactivating Windows 7.

A couple times now I have had THIS IS NOT GENUINE WINDOWS message appear in bottom right corner of my desktop, I must have something blocking the .exe they have phoning home occasionally, without my knowledge until this issue came to my attention and apparently to millions of users by now and the above link is the solution assuming you still have internet on that PC in question.
