    Windows 7 install fails BSOD

I am trying to install windows 7 Ultimate 32bit on my computer and it fails. I had some trouble getting the installation disk to boot. i kept getting a BSOD error 0x0000000a. I was able to get around this error by removing one stick of ram (i have 3 x 1GB kingston DDR PC3200).
I selected the 40GB IDE drive to install windows to (couldn't get it to recognize my SATA controller). I was able to format the drive and copy file. Then the computer rebooted. When windows tries to boot I get the BSOD and then the computer reboots. I'm not able to see what is causing the error. if I select safe mode boot it boots up to the installer. there I get an error can't continue setup in safe mode please reboot.
