Ugrade from Vistx32 to Windows 7 ultimate x64

Hi, im trying to this upgrade for a while now but i've been having trouble ever since the RC version of w7. (on my extensa 4420-5910)

I've tried the 32 bit and it works perfectly but I dont like the idea of loosing 1gb of ram ( It has 4).

The thing is, the laptop starts doing some weird stuff, for example, the screen image gets distorted (like the image uploaded) in the screen of the user password, and once I start the pc after sleep or hibernation, I loose the audio.

I've tried the acer's drivers for this windows and still the same problems, any ideas?

According to the Acer Europe site no official Windows 7 (or 64bit of any sort) drivers are available.

This likely means that you are running on poor generic drivers.

I would recommend going back to the 32bit version of Windows 7 and using the Vista drivers.

The amount of RAM you actually lose in 32bit in 64bit is negligible, Windows 7 32bit supports a maximum of 4 GB of RAM but can only itself utilise 3.25GB; this is not to say all of the remaining RAM goes to waste, some of it is reserved for the graphics card etc.

The same principals apply to 64bit, some of the RAM is reserved for hardware use.

You will end up with slightly less usable RAM on your PC with 32bit but it's an amount so small you won't notice the difference.

Yeah, I was thinking that too.. thx, Im going back. I have it on the pc on an .iso image, is there a way to install it through a flash drive?

I think (but am not entirely sure) that it can be done by following the tutorial at System Image Recovery.
