Windows 7: Atapi cd install :???????????

RAID zero

Nothing ATM , not until i install it :(!!!!!!!!!!

HMM,

that just may be causing it , because the mobo is special that way. let me explain

there are 5 regular SATA ports, sata 1, sata 2, sata 3, sata 4, and SATA 5

SATA 1 WD HDD 500 GB (RAID 0)
SATA 2 WD HDD 500 GB (RAID 0)
SATA 3 Seagate 250 GB
SATA 4
SATA 5
SATA_E1 (Port0, Orange) Blu Ray
SATA_E2 (Port1, White) Not Functioning In Normal Mode

But after that ASUS did some stupid promo thing , and added two more , these are called SATA e1 (orange)(lol did i spell orange right i never do)
& SATA e2 (white)

these two ports function as two things, a knockoff of RAID 0 Striped and mirrored, i didnt use these ports because i recall it not working, so what i did was changed the mode

Drive Xpert (asus name)

Mirror uses both e1 and e2 to make a knockoff RAID 0 Mirror config

Performance uses both e1 and e2 to make a knockoff RAID 0 Config

Normal Mode (only port 0 works, port 1 is turned off in this setting) but nothing is plugged into it so im fine (3 HDD's & Bluray)

so you see , nothing is wrong with the silly SATA ports ASUS used ,

I WILL TRY TO ATTEMPT MOVING MY BLU RAY SATA CONNECTION ELSEWHERE TO TRY. BRB

RAID zero

Nothing ATM , not until i install it :(!!!!!!!!!!

i just tryed it again , made a new raid volume changed my bios settings to RAID as well
and this time , a message appeared ,

CD-ROM Boot Priority .. Boot Ready,

Im not booting with a CD-ROM lol...?

and i inserted the disc and then the message appeared again with the other one , please insert boot media yata yata yata,

but what i found intresting was that a number appeared .. 35 next to the message 35 seconds is what i have told the BIOS to time out after looking for any SATA devices, im assuming this means my BIOS isnt detecting my blu-ray in RAID mode, despite it can display it with information in IDE?

RAID zero

Nothing ATM , not until i install it :(!!!!!!!!!!

its possible i may have made the solution , i just turned the intel and bios settings to RAID, and then went back and changed the BIOS to IDE,

BIOS = IDE

INTEL = RAID 0 MODE

and went into windows loaded up as usual in IDE, and then when the install screen came , i could install too two diffrent HDDS

931 GB DISC 0

250 GB DISC 1

im assuming that means my RAID hdds are woorking, i will now redo it and attempt to install. im hoping if i suceed i can go back later and reenable RAID mode on the BIOS...

You hit it. The 931 GB disc is your two drives in RAID 0, and where I assume you wnt to install Windows too. If the Windows install is now seeing it, you should be good to go with installing.

Just one small correction about this,

SATA 5 isn't the E-SATA port, the E-SATA port is located on the back panel underneath the two red USB ports.

Alright let me get this straight , Windows 7 wouldnt install because my bios was set to RAID? , and my intel was set to RAID?,

RAID, RAID = No Instal
RAID, IDE = Install.

>_> *FacePalm

I'm attempting to install as we speack on those RAID 0 hdds, ill reply back one last time to let you guys know if it works out.

Set the SATA controller to RAID.

In the Intel RAID sub-BIOS that comes up once you've done that, create a RAID 0 array from your two disks. (They'll then be a logical single device.)

With the Win7 DVD in the drive, boot the system. Use the F8 key to enter a screen that allows you to set the boot order. You'll need to boot from the DVD.

(Alternately, buy a 4GB flash drive, and prep it as a bootable drive with the Win 7 installer on it:

Use a USB Key to Install Windows 7—Even on a Netbook

It'll be faster than installing from the DVD.)

The bit I'm not sure about: Win7 may include RAID drivers compatible with an Intel motherboard RAID controller. (Win7 includes AHCI drivers, so why not RAID?) I believe that you won't need to do the F6 trick at all.

Once you have Win7 installed, you'll probably want to install the full Intel Rapid Storage suite. That'll give you Intel drivers, and utilities to manage the RAID.

Good luck.
Yep, we have done all that.

From your other post it sounds like you have this working??? You see the RAID 0 Drive with RAID, IDE.

If you are still having problems I would change your BIOS setting to look like this:

SATA 1 RAID 0 WD 500GB HDD
SATA 2 RAID 0 WD 500GB HDD
SATA 3 nothing
SATA 4 nothing
SATA 5 External SATA Port (Doesnt Appear On BIOS Because nothings plugged into it)
SATA e1 Blu-Ray
SATA e2 Seagate 250GB HDD
