The Not Responding problem remains
Do you have a SSD ? A X58 ? An Intel chipset ?

If you have a Intel chipset, try downloading these drivers, unpack to a directory of your choosing, open a command prompt then type "setup.exe -OVERALL". Needs a reboot.

That seems to have fixed it all for me.

Chipset is AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+

Umm, not sure what is SSD - is it the HDD, if so no SSD. I have Dell pc with SCSI disc.

Thanks for trying cwiz, I am pleased to hear you are sorted

You may have to wait for W7 to be released and OEMs offer the proper support. Right now, MS Upate seems to be the only source of W7 specific drivers and such. There's also a program out there that fixes MLC related problems. It supposedly works great, but it too is still in a 32-bit only, beta stage.

My main problem with MLC is that while SLC SSDs already have had a good track record with use in servers, the problematic MLC SSDs are being cobbled together with cheaper parts and patches to be sold to the public guinea pigs. It may get perfected some day, but right now they're not recommended for use as system drives, especially not for high end systems. You might save a few bucks but you get what you pay for.

The SSDs are all too new at this time and seeing quite a few problems on the typical desktop. As for the Aero themes changing back to basic with WMP that's also seen with any media player and tv tuner card applications as well. That's part of 7's new energy saving feature for conserving video power while redirecting things to the video portion of the player itself to meet demands there.

Sorry Enzo, that wasn't addressed to you personally
It was meant as a global statement

Oh it is sooo frustrating.
I am usually pretty good at resolving my problems, but with the system behaving like it is, it is unworkable coz of the lag between clicking a button and the response. Grrhh

Thanks for trying.

btw did I say The Not Responding problem remains, ha ha

I had the none responsive system after install Windows 7 7100 64 bit. I found the trouble to be the Claro sound card drivers and program. The system would go into a IRQ loop. I installed the Claro drivers three times and got the system to finally let all the drivers install. Still problem with the Claro control panel, if I open it I get the hang and non response, again it is an IRQ problem with the control panel trying to interface to the audio card. So I gave up using it and just use the Windows 7 audio control panels successfully. I also get the non response but for shorter period when I connect an eSata external drive (again a IRQ loop). Not sure if this will help or not. But wanted to make you aware of the IRQ loops that I experienced.
