    Search field missing from explorer

    Hi,
I have Windows 7, build 7100 installed on 2 computers. In 1, there is a search field next to the address field in the explorer window. The other computer shows only the address field. How do I enable the search field?

    Thanks

Have you gone to "folder options" and restored defaults on the "search" tab?

I would do that and see if that works. Maybe restore defaults for "folder options"

I am thinking you mean "Windows Explorer" You may mean "internet explorer" in that case go to internet options and hit the "search" button on the front tab and make sure you have a search provider enabled.

Does that work to restore defaults on the search tab in folder options?

I figured it out. I went to Programs & Features in Control Panel and put a check in Windows Search. Now I have the search fields in exxplorer and the srart menu.

Oh good, I'm glad you figured it out. Sorry I couldn't have helped. Maybe next time.
