    Do I do fresh install or upgrade?


    Hello,
    I current have Vista Home Premium and got the UltimateSteal Windows 7 Professional upgrade...how can I transition from Vista Home to W7 Pro? Do I do fresh install or upgrade? Thanks.

    Welcome to the Seven Forums!

    Almost everyone here is going to recommend an clean install, because upgrade installs have been known to cause bugs. Upgrade install is easier, but clean install is ... well, cleaner! Upgrade install will seamlessly restore all your programs, files, and settings, whereas those things must be manually backed up and restored/reinstalled if you do a clean install. On the other hand, Clean install doesn't leave behind the potential loose ends that can result from an upgrade install.

    If you go for the upgrdae to Windows7,Make sure you backup your data first.

    Restore Backup User and System Files

    Windows Easy Transfer - Transfer To & From Computers

I am going to do a fresh install of my Win 7 Pro DVD prior to the Win 10 upgrade. Isn't there a way to downloads an iso file that has all up to date patches/SP's, etc and burn that to a new dvd rather than go through all the updates/SP's...etc ? Thanks....TiminAz

installing Windows 7 ultimate upgrade version on fresh install with new hardware right now. i will b checking this every few min. so far it as made it to the blue screen with the cursor... nothign else has come up yet.
