ok here is my deal i went to update a comp that had xp on it to windows seven , but i messed up and installed a x64 version on it instead of the x86 i meant to , so the installation went through and once the comp came back up i got a wrong os for this cpu , which i knew that was going to happen but when i stuck in the os 7 disk x86 i could not boot from cd so after checking all bios settings i uninstalled the hdd which is sata and i put in a external dock and formated it, now i get a missing bootmgr window and cannot boot from cd but when i remove the hdd the cd boots no problems , when i put the hdd back in and restart same missing bootmrg screen shows up , is there any way to format the hdd back so it can be read and let the cd boot? im stuck on stupid ....

Try Cleaning the HD using Diskpart from Booted Win7 DVD: Disk - Clean and Clean All with Diskpart Command

You should not have to put your HD in an external dock to clean it. Double check to make sure you have your BIOS set to boot DVD first: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/tipstr.../bootcddvd.htm

If it still fails, try the one-time Boot Menu key given on first boot screen to press for booting.

You booted the DVD to install 64 bit, right? So what changed that causes it not to boot now?

Other than wiping any conflicting code off the HD using Diskpart Clean command, you might try resetting the CMOS: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixthe.../clearcmos.htm
