Hi Lomai, Yes I did check that to no avail. After pressing the source button it just switches between dvi and vga and then goes back to standby. I just brought my rig into the shop to have them run some diagnostics on it. I think I might be having some mobo issues as earlier today, the computer restarted randomly while I was waiting for the set up to start up.

I had this problem today while re-installing windows on my PC after having been infected by a serious virus that F'd up my whole system.
Situation: I have a PC with ATI video card and dual monitors. One of the monitors is hooked up DVI (digital) and the other VGA (analog). I had the DVI monitor turned on, and the VGA turned off while installing.
Problem: The windows installation got to a certain point and then my monitor (digital) went into sleep mode. no signal from video card. I racked my brains trying to figure it out to the point where a Google search led me to this forum.
Solution: The solution was too easy. One of you guys pointed out that the analog should be on and the digital off.. You were right. I simply turned on my analog monitor and the installation was right there still going on! So the issue is that while windows is installing, the drivers for the digital DVI connection might not yet be there, while the VGA (analog) connection will be on. Solution: Make sure that you have a monitor hooked up via VGA connector and you shouldn't lose your screen!
