    XP 32 to 7 x64

I have been trying to install a win 7 x64 professinal on my XP-32 machine using the procedure suggested by MS, including using Adviser and Easy Transfer.

I cannot get past the initial few screens when loading up with Win 7 x64 disk.

I am getting the error 0x80300001 indicating that win 7 cannot install on the 2 HDD I have. One is SATA and the other IDE through High-Point RocketRaid 464. I thought the Raid card was the issue and disconnected the IDE HDD, but left the Raid card in place.

Have read a lot posts on possible issue with win 7 and SATA HDD or Raid setups.

Any help on what I need to do to get beyond this error message will be greatly appreciated. I do not mind reformating the HDDs as long as I can get this darn thing installed.

Enter the system setup (BIOS) and change the SATA controller option. Try different combination to see if it helps.

EDIT: You might have to look at the motherboard manufacturer's website for different SATA controller drivers.

Which HD do you want to install on ? You might need to disconnect the 2nd drive & change the Bios settings for the install.

Remove the raid card & load your Sata controller drivers.

If you are trying to install to the SATA drive, pull the RAID card and the IDE drive. I would also recommend backing up your data to a flash drive or an external drive first.

I pulled the raid card and went through command prompt to set the SATA drive as active. Win 7 installed on SATA.

Now i am going to try to hook up the raid back in again.

Does your motherboard have an IDE port on it? If not, if it was me, I'd buy another SATA drive and do away with IDE completely at this point.
