Well then we need to see your full system specs and what version of Windows 7 you're running (Beta, RC, RTM and build number)

It's hard to guess at the problem without more information on your part :)

Windows 7

Hmm I thought I provided enough info (the direct error log from the windows media center program itself).

It is RC build 7100. 7100.0.x86fre.winmain_win7rc.090421-1700

Amd Sempron 2800+ 1.6 GHz

Radeon 9550.

2 Gb ram.

Adequate storage space. General programs installed (however I don't think it is software related, WMC didn't work even when I just installed win7 fresh.)

I'm not sure what else to include. What more would you like to know?

Windows 7 Professional

Just curious if you have found a solution yet? I have exactly the same problem. I did a clean install of Windows 7 Professional over Vista Home Premium (should have just upgraded to Win7 HP!!) I used a program called PC Mover to transfer my applications and documents without having to reinstall everything. I'm wondering if that's the culprit. Did you use anything like that as well??

If you go to troubleshooting, and go to WMC, do you show that your library is corrupt? Mine does show that - I've done everything I can do to fix that, but it still shows as being corrupt. Not sure if that is why WMC won't load.

I'm beginning to wonder if I will need to do another clean install - this time formatting the hard drive?

I spent 1.5 hours on the phone last night with Microsoft. We tried a million things to get it working, but so far they couldn't even help!!

Windows 7

I have not seen a reply that seems to resolve this issue. There is no Technet or other Microsoft information on how to solve this problem. My problem occurred with a clean-install of Windows 7 - using RC Build 7100 for testing. I have completed recommendations to scan files using sfc /scannow; removed media center as a feature and deleted eHome files, rebooted, and reinstalled Media Center; and just completed a repair reinstall - to no avail. Errors are System.InvalidOperationException: Error opening the database - HR = 0x80004005, minor = 25134, 0, 0, 0, "", "", "".

Everything else about this OS is fantastic but it doesn't seem that Media Center is a supported option and appears to be on its way out. Any further insite to this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Windows 7 Ultimate - 64-bit | Windows 8 Pro - 64-bit

Hi Edward,
You could try to run something called FixWin it has an option to Flush and rebuild WMC. Once i fixed my WMC issue with that tool a MVP developed it. I'm attaching that here

The 1.6 GHz processor is below spec and you likely are using a bad download of the RC and/or a bad burn or bad disk as the same issue repeats.
