    Hi CBers,

The primary reason I designed the program to work with folders is to be consistent between all movie formats regardless if it is UDF (DVD, DVD-HD or Blu-ray), single movie files or spanning movie files.

My secondary reason as limitations of the OS. Even though NTFS can handle an extremely large number of files per folder as the number increases you'll see performance problems. The exact numbers vary significantly per hardware but when developing server products a good practice has been between 10,000 to 20,000.

I can look at making it an option though if you'd like. My only challenge would be filtering out trailers, samples and if sequels were named identical aside from a 1 or 2 characters then it would group them together. That or just turn off grouping\playlists if this option was enabled.

Btw, Let me know how your ION system works out. I don't have the funds at the moment but I'd like to replace my media center extenders with ION\Atom based systems as well.

And the knee isn't doing to well. Dislocated it playing basketball. I have to wait a few days for the swelling to go down before doing a MRI. I just hope I didn't rip my ACL. In high school I tore my ACL, PCL, MCL and meniscus in my right knee. This time it is my left knee. It doesn't feel as bad but no good either.
    Hi again mikinho.

Let me have a play and see what effect, if any, it has.

May be an issue for other members of the family, but we'll learn to live with it.

An option I did think, was if there is a known limit, then perhaps for SMALL set-ups ( < 15000 files) then all can be maintained in the same folder, but for LARGE set-ups (> 15000 files) then seperate folders are required.

WRT the ION/Atom, I'm still ascertaining which is the best "media center" set up for me.

I have a mix of SD/HD with and without AC3/AAC encoding, so I need to have a MC set-up that caters for all.

I like the original WMC but it won't plat AC3/AAC, whereas XBMC does.

So confusing, so little time to play

Hope the knees sorts itself out - I've had a dodgy knee for almost 25 years so I know what it's like

Right, off to play with YAMMM (did you ever come across YAMJ for the PCHs ??).

OK, so I used YAMMM last night and the presentation in MCE needs a bit of tweaking WRT the "posters" etc., but at least I could read up on the film etc.

The only problem I have is not YAMMM related, but more to do with WMC/WMP as it does not play AC3/AAC.

XBMC will play AC3/AAC and it also does the movie info etc.

So, I am torn between them at the moment.

XBMC does AC3/AAC, but does not play HD content very well under windows as it does not use hardware accelerator for video, whereas under Linux, it uses VDPAU and works fine.

If you have any further suggestions that helps me to stick with WMC, please let me know, as I don't really want to put Linux on my ION (I have enough problems working with unix at work every day ).

What makes you say that MC doesn't support AC3/AAC? On mine it does. Using the integrated sound device it wouldn't but I did some research and found which cards it worked with and haven't had a problem since.

Well if it does, it doesn't send the signal to my surround system to say it is playing AC3/AAC like XBMC/GOM Player/VLC Player etc. do.

    Any suggestions ??

Are you using the default codecs and decoders or ffdshow?

    Have you tried AC3Filter?

Just out of curiosity have you set your sound hardware to 'output' digital audio & not the default analog? I may be wrong as sound cards aren't my thing, although my onboard has the option of 'Analog' & 'SP-Dif/Digital'

Yes, I have AC3filter installed, along with "CoreAVC 1.95 full edition", "HAALI Media Splitter" and "DivX Tech Preview: MKV on Windows 7"

    I haven't got ffdshow installed though, should I ??

As I said, I know other media players (GOM Player, XBMC) are passing the signal, as the display on my receiver changed to either DTS of DOLBY B, so why isn't MC ??

Have you setup Media Center to use any of the 3rd party codecs\decoders? By default Media Center will use it's own unless changed, installing them is not enough.

See Preferred DirectShow Filters Tool for Windows 7

And since you mention CoreAVC I take it you are uisng W7 32-bit?

Yes. Any significance in your statement/question ??

I just wanted to verify as CoreAVC is not x64 compatible yet and AC3Filter wasn't until 1.60b. If you were running 64-bit I was going to ask what version you had.
