Pixelated fonts only in Media Center

Hi everyone.

Fonts are jagged/pixelated only in Windows Media Center. When I quit Media Center, the display hangs for a few seconds and all the system fonts are blurry, then the display flashes back to normal, high-quality.

I have reinstalled my graphics drivers, it didn't help. I also tried enabling and disabling Aero (which shouldn't matter with my system specs) which didn't work.

I should also note that I did not have this problem on the same TV using my old Macbook running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit with an Nvidia 9400M.

Relevant Information: 32" Sony Bravia LCD TV, Nvidia GeForce GTS 250 connected with HDMI via DVI-HDMI adapter, Gigabyte H55M-UD2H motherboard, Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

Thanks

UPDATE:

My monitor was set to 59 Hertz. I changed it to 60 and everything is fine now.

Hi JayMP, welcome to SevenForums.

Did you try to set the correct display type and resolution for your monitor in Windows Media Center?

Here's how to: Windows Media Center | Learn More | Custom Settings | Tutorial > How to Get a Sharper Picture

Yes I've done that several times. I actually just checked back to edit my post, but I'll incorporate it with my response to you.

I can get a clear, high quality image with smooth fonts if I change the resolution, preview it, then click "cancel" and return to my previous resolution. However, once I minimize or quit Media Center, it resets it back to the poor display quality. It's as if it's not being saved. Maybe there's something I can edit in the registry or a configuration file somewhere?

Maybe I misunderstand, but why do you click cancel if you get smooth fonts if you change the resolution?

I figured it out and updated the thread, but to answer your question, it went like this:

Poor display quality on 1080p>change to different resolution, anything... like 720p for instance>click "cancel">display returns to 1080p but with smooth fonts>minimize or quit>maximize or relaunch>poor display quality returns.

Ah okay I understand, good you got it solved though.

If you click on the triangle in the right top corner of your post and type in solved, this thread will be marked as solved.
