Media Center not playing video files

Hi all, actually the real issue is not that the video files will not play per se, but that I see them listed as videos in Media Center but when I click to watch them I get a message saying they cannot be found. Here's what I'm doing...in Media Center I go to Pictures and Video then to Video Library where I see the external USB drive that has my video files on it. I see them all listed but as I stated above when I click any one of them I get the message "Cannot Play Video" Windows Media Center cannot find the specified file. Be sure the path is typed correctly. If it is, the file does not exist at the specified location, or the computer where the file is stored is offline. The video files are mkv and I have this box set up to be able to play them but I don't that as being part of this issue due to the content of the error message. Yes the USB drive is accessible as drive E and the files are there. Any idea why they would be listed yet not found??
    Thanks

the external drive is a USB 1TB Cavalry

You'd have to add the folder (the USB drive, or folder on USB drive where the videos are) to your WMP library (locations WMP searches to find media automatically). Have a look at the instructions on this link:

Add Folder To WMP 12 Library

If you have already done this and it's not working, let us know and we'll see if we can figure that out too.
