Not Getting All Channels on WMC

Hi -

Upfront, I'm a newbie to WMC TV. So that said....

I set it up this afternoon and scanned for analog and digital QAM stations. It only brought in channels 1-100, plus some "subchannels" which I don't understand: e.g., 15, 15.3 & 15.4; 11 channel 16s, some of which look the same.

We don't have a huge cable package, but there are about 20 channels over 100 we get (100-120) that includes the Military Channel, which I want, plus about 10 movie channels (300-310).

Any thoughts on how - or if - I can get all of the channels?

Generally, you will never get any cable stations over QAM except your local over the air TV stations. The rest of your cable is encrypted. The locals are only unencrypted because the FCC makes the cable company do that, and beware, they really can circumvent the intent by supplying you with only SD versions of your local stations if they want.

This is referring to a setup WITHOUT a smartcard (or whatever it's called).

Your off to a great start. Media Center is simply the best way to watch TV.
Just answer these few questions so I can help you.

Do you know what TV tuner model you are using?
Before you set up media center were you using a cable box to receive channels?

If your wanting to get premium you will need a digital cable card Tuner. I use one by a company called Ceton. It's amazing, I can watch and record 4 channels of HD without having to pay for a cable box or DVR. Multi-Stream Tuner Cards by Ceton

Just answer my two questions and I can get started helping you set everything up.

They are called cable cards. You rent them for a couple bucks a month from your cable provider and you can access premium channels except movies on demand and other 2-way cable services.

How do I specify which channels to record from?
Hiya, folks! I have a setup which uses WMC 12 with an ATI TV Wonder external digital cable tuner. For budgetary reasons, I currently have only a "Digital Starter" cable subscription, in addition to my cable Internet. There are several public television series which I am able to receive and...

How do I get more Audio Channels?
I mean... seriously all it shows for me is "Stereo". I only have 2 Devices available, one is Realtek Hd Audio (the one with only Stereo, but it has Dolby Surround Sound, idk if that replaces the options of choosing 5.1 or better)...

RAM channels
What exactly is "triple channel" RAM? Is it just RAM that comes in a set of 3 or is the RAM different to dual channel? The reason I'm asking is that I was wondering if I could buy 3 sticks of "dual channel" RAM, and put them together, to make it triple channel on a new computer.

Changing channels
Excuse my ignorance but I was wondering, when you record different shows on different channels on the same or even a different day will MC change to the appropriate channel like Time Warner's DVR service does?

When I'm setting up WMC and the program is scanning for channels, how come it only comes up with 7 of them? I have Time Warner Cable of Queens.
