Media Center doesn't see wmv files

I've created some home movies using Windows Live Movie Maker. They play fine in the Windows or VLC Media Players, but, Media Center doesn't even show the files when I browse to the directory under "Pictures & Video / Video Library". It does show the original (unedited) video (MP4) that I edited in Windows Live Movie Maker to create the wmv files.

How can I get Media Center to play these movies?

Hmm you could install Shark007's Codec Pack, those are really good codecs.

Since you have a 64-bit windows, you need to install the x64 component addon

    Here:

    Shark007.net - Windows 7 Codecs - WMP12 Codecs
    Shark007.net - Windows 7 x64 Codecs - WMP12 Codecs

That'll make almost every single file playable on WMP and WMC!

    Cheers :)

I installed both the 32 & 64 bit codecs and did the file type association in settings.
Media Center still doesn't "see" the WMV files. When I go to "Pictures + Videos / Video Library / Maui Trip / Movies" (The folder the wmv files are in), I get the message:

"There are no items in this library yet - Windows Media Center is searching for media files in the background. To add more video, you can go to the Tasks>Settings>Media Libraries."

The other directories under the "Maui Trip" have my raw "footage" as MP4 files. They show up and play just fine. The WMV files play just fine in Windows Media Player and VLC Media Player. Media Center just doesn't show them as available to play.

Most likely some software you have used/tested removed pertinent registry information for this filetype. For your convenience, I attached the registry info you need.

    That fixed it. Thanks!
