It sounds like you have everything setup correctly, and I've actually had the same thing happen to me. This occurred after I moved to a new apartment, after I reconnected all my network devices. Something about modifying the network seemed to make the Xbox no longer remember how to connect to the WMC computer. Unfortunately the only fix I could find was to start over as if the two devices had never been connected.

To fix this I did the following:

    From PC:
    - Delete Xbox 360 Media Extender from WMC
    - Reboot PC

    From XBOX:
    - Remove saved WMC connection settings
    - Restore default network configuration
    - Reboot Xbox
    - Now with a clean slate, access WMC and establish a new connection

    Hi,

i can't connect my extender (Xbox 360 - new) to my PC. It goes through installing extender and adds library but does not complete.

I have it connected directly to my PC and no firewall on. Sharing is allowed.

I have run out of ideas.

Surely this should be a plug and play and just be a case of adding the extender and key!!

    Can anyone please help?

My 360 extender connection is fine and everything plays well but, I just found out some inexcusable issue with media center extender. When i play my videos/movies in my PC though both wmp and media center my stuff plays perfect. Now when i play them in my 360 extender their ASPECT RATIOS ARE messed up!! their not in there original aspect ratios/frames! every types of A.R is stretched , missing picture from top bottom and both sides. even 2.39 videos are affect in the sides. I check the zoom settings and it says zoom 1 "normal aspect ratio" but its clearly not. I'm missing up to 30% of video frame in some videos and i don't like that at all.

again in my P.C they videos play perfect its the xbox 360 extender that they don't . I don't know whats wrong, im thinking it could be my 2007 32inch vizio t.v that could be the problem but if i connect my laptop with an rbg cable to it they ratios are correct and so is playing normal dvd's and stuff on it.

Nothing mentioned here worked for me. My problem was the 360 could not see windows 7, but the PC could see the 360. I turned off the 360 and restarted my router, then i opened WMP12 and clicked Stream > More streaming options from the library mode, then hovered the mouse over my Xbox and clicked on Remove. Then clicked on "Choose homegroup and sharing options" at the bottom and then selected "Leave homegroup" at the bottom, once again. Now I clicked create new homegroup and selected the files to share. Made sure all the other settings within advanced sharing mentioned here were allowed except password. restarted xbox and navigated to > My Xbox > Video Library, and it appeared straight away for me. Hope this helps.
Just registered to say thanks. Leaving the home group and removing the xbox from the media devices made the xbox and the xbox extender immediately available and functional. Install of driver and setup was effortless.

I have tried everything suggested in this thread and nothing worked. I had Microsoft support for over an hour in my pc trying different things and they gave up and then had xbox support telling me to try the same things and nothing works. I get as far as entering in the 8 digit key and then after a few minutes i get the "An error has occured in configuring your computer to work with this extender." Has anybody ran into this as well?

I came across a Problem and Sorted it,

1, If your Running the PC on wireless Turn off (Disable) all Network cards.(Except the Wireless)

2, If your Running Wired, Turn off any other Lan cards that you have.

Don't know why but Win 7 gives Wired over wireless and may do it with more then 1 LAN card on board or not.

I have problems with some movies trying to stream from computer to xbox. The audio is off from the video, it's not all movies but some. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you remedy?

    Thanks
