Vizio 19" VA19L Monitor Screen Flicker During Video Games

    Hi everyone,

So I just got this brand new 19" BEAUTIFUL Vizio 19" HDTV Monitor from my Brother. He's a Coastie and can't bring it with him to A School, so he gave it to me as a VERY early Birthday and Christmas Present. I was, of course, VERY appreciative LOL. Anyway, the Monitor works great and, for the moment, I have it connected to my HP Pavilion Elite HPE via the RGB PC Slot (I intend on getting an HDMI cord tomorrow, God Willing). It works fine and dandy, great picture, even on the RGB, HOWEVER, whenever I go fullscreen OR Windowed on any of my Video Games, especially World of Warcraft, the screen flickers like you wouldn't believe. Any movie I play has NO problems whatsoever, it seems to ONLY do this when I play a game. I tried every configuration of video settings on each game, tried messing around with the monitor settings to no avail. Do any of you know enough about these new spiffy HDTV Monitors that could help a brother out? I'd appreciate any advice and/or info you could give an old PC Dinosaur. I KNOW this Monitor can do better and am looking forward to how it will look connected to the HDMI but, for now, would like to fix my screen flicker problem.

I should tell you my resolution is set to 1380 X 768 at 60hz. No other refresh rate is showing nor will be allowed by this monitor (have no idea why). I can adjust the actual resolution but that does NOT fix the flicker problem in the game. I should also say that when the screen does begin to flicker, it does not stop until I restart the PC.

I hope all this info helps and look forward to your replies! :)

I don't have much to offer, but are you running the latest video driver? I know that a lot of the updates that come out are game related.

Thanks for the help! I just connected an HDMI cable instead of the RGB and it fixed the problem, no more screen flicker. Now I just gotta figure out an optimal display setup! Thanks again! :)
