    Sky Player problem

    Hi all,
I have recently been using window media center to watch skysports via the sky player. However, yesterday the sky player despaired and I can’t seem to figure out the problem. I’ve researched on online and I’ve tried everything without much success. For instance I’ve checked the region and language and the registry. Furthermore, when manually downloading updates I get errors. I have posted screenshots below.
Below is a screenshot of the registry

When manually trying to download updates the following message appears

    Anyone with any solutions?

Hi, welcome to the forums :)

I've had a similar issue which I tracked down to being my regional settings, try the following tutorial and in step 6 make sure that ALL information is for your desired locale.

    Region and Language - Change

Then, from within Media Center, click [b*Tasks*Settings > General > Automatic Download Options[/b] then the Download Now button. Hopefully it'll then reinstall Sky Player for you.

    Thanks for the welcome buddy.
I followed those steps and it hasn’t addressed the issues unfortunately. A message appeared “TV guide did not download” or something down those lines. Furthermore on the media center icon it said “error while download” this certainly is a tedious problem.

    Hmm, try this...

1, Open explorer and navigate to C:\Windows\ehome\
    2, Run Media Center
3, tab back to explorer and find mcupdate.exe then right-click and Run as Administrator
4, Close down Media Center, re-open it and see if anything has appeared

This should hopefully force the update and should allow for media guide downloading

p.s I'm off for the night (1:20am and I'm bushed lol)

    Hi,
I've had this problem also and it has taken doing a few things to getting it working again,
    1. Uninstall MS Silverlight, reboot and install it again, This worked a few times for me.
    2. Another time I changed DNS address to Google's, followed the screen's and away I went again.
So it looks like test & error un Sky sort the problem out with thier bug in Sky Player

Ok then does sky player work in a browser???????, I'm watching my in IE9 at the moment as I'm watching something else on WMC. If it works ok in a browser then the only thing it can be is the bug in Sky player, You can try this if you want.
Uninstall MS Silverlight then go to control panel open programs and features and then click on turn windows features on or off in the pop-up scroll down to Media Features and click on the + and then uncheck Windows Media Center follow the screen and then reboot your PC, Then reverse the control panel steps.
Open WMC and it should ask you to install MS Silverlight, do that, if it still not working then manually download updates. It should then work if not then let us know and we can try other things

Still no luck pal. Every time I try to update manually I receive a message stating download error or TV guide could not be download. I presume that could be the issue (I know very little about computers)
