You are right Mickey (did I spell that right -LOL). I use a very loose language when it comes to Codecs. Shark already hit me over the head for that.

2 things to try...
update your graphics drivers from the chipset manufacturer
update the codecs.

Uninstall the current codecs from the Help TAB of the Settings Application
Get and install the latest release from MajorGeeks

test your files

If things work as they should, leave it alone
If something is not right, press [Reset All], test again
still not right? try using the [x] SUGGESTED settings

Black Screen,Taking forever to auto recover and it doesnt work
Everytime i boot up my computer it goes to the start up repair. If i let it do its thing it takes forever and gives me the error in the picture. If i press cancel it goes to a black screen and nothing happens. Nothing is plugged into it either.:confused: Thanks for the help!

Copying files takes forever?
I'm trying to copy some files from my USB onto my hard drive, but the progress bar remains at around 98% indefinitely? It's been like it now for half an hour, i've tried cancelling it and trying again but to no avail.

This all started earlier today it worked fine yesterday no changes to my computer at all this only happens with avi files cant do system restore I dont use restore points uses too much HDD space can you help me?

I'm searching and searching for a free / opensource program that can convert most video formats (MOV, WMV, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 etc) to H.264 or vise versa. And with such options as data rate of 2000 / 5000 kbps but not limited to only that option.

i get that error message whenever i try to open any type of video file on both MPC home cinema an Windows Media Player, it started yesterday and the things i've done since last playing a video and this error are: -uninstalling NVIDIA graphics driver and redownloading it (310m with CUDA)....
