WMC can't open this picture or video.

I have the same problem on my Vista side. The majority of the pictures open but there are a few that just won't and I keep getting the same error message:

Windows Photo Viewer/Photo Gallery/WMC can't open this picture or video. The file appears to be damaged or corrupted.

I am continuing to search the problem in Goofle but... Is there an application or software that works best (FREE if possible) to repair Jepgs that is proven? I went through a couple and they did nothing (PixRecovery comes to mind).

The images with problems are in JEPG, about 56 KB in size, Attributes AI and I have full security control over them.

This are personal pictures and my wife's about to stop handing marital favors, if you know what I mean, so... a lot of help is needed here for the sake of a man's happiness

    Unfortunately, WMC doesn't play everything.
    Try VLC
VideoLAN - Official page for VLC media player, the Open Source video framework!

Thanks a lot but, I am guessing you didn't read my whole post... I am having an issue with an Image (jpg photo) and not with a video clip. Unless of course VLC also opens jpgs and I don't know that

VLC is what I use instead of the dreaded WMP or even Media Center

Right click the jpg, then choose to open with Windows photo viewer (if you haven't tried that yet).

Edit ... never mind, looks like you already did try it.

The images with problems are in JEPG
Are the images saved as Jepg or Jpeg?
