    X-Box & Media Center

I thought I had posted this in the general forum but I must not have hit the submit button. In any case I have two PC's in the same room, one running XP and one running Windows 7 both on a wireless G network. My X-box is located about 15-20 directly across the room. I can connect to my XP pc (not using media center) from the X-Box and play music or look at pictures with great response time. I can also watch NetFlix movies on the X-Box which I forgot to mention is also connected to the wireless network. The issue I have is when I fire up media center on the X-Box and try to connect to my Windows 7 PC it is extremely slow. The Alblum covers come up on the X-box screen. The the controls freeze and eventually a message will pop up saying it lost the connection to the media center pc. Basically it is useless. I have deleted the media center from the x-box and added back in but the results are the same. Any ideas?

This is not a solution to your issue but have you tried either xbmc or ps3media server as both will perform the tasks you require.
Have you set file sharing correctly in 7?
I am also assuming that you are only trying to connect to 1 of the PC at a time.

I have not tried xbmc or ps3 media server. As far as file sharing goes I believe the directory is shared, was there something specific you were looking for?. Yes only one PC at a time. For that matter I turned off the XP PC just to eliminate it from the mix

Nothing specific as such, just trying to remember what I did to cure it.( don't have xp or an xbox anymore). I think in the end I had to disable all file sharing and work groups etc. Then removed the xp pc from the network, reset w7 pc file sharing only no groups then when it was running fine enabled sharing in xp. It would still play up from to time though.
Now I use ps3 mediaserver ( which is now xbox compatible), don't need to set permissions just do it all in the software, easy.
