WMC not available as an autoplay option

Did a search but couldn't find anything on this. WMC is not showing in the list of applications to autoplay DVDs. How do I add it?

Open your windows start menu and press (Default Programs) button on the right side of the start box.
Then choose Media Center and Press (Set this program as default) button and you should be set.

Nope, that doesn't do it. Media player still plays DVDs, and there is no option for setting WMC to play DVDs like I have in the same menu in Vista.

To give a graphic idea, this is what the equivalent menus of Vista and 7 look like in the Autoplay screen:

Media Center does not play DVDs. Windows Media Player does. Just as your Home Theatre System does not play your DVDs or tune your TV.

Import the below registry key (just created). Afterwards "Play DVD movie using Windows Media Center" will be an option under AutoPlay

Let me know if it helps.

Unless, of course, some brilliant person from Brazil who is stuck living in Houston just happens to know everything there is to know about multimedia applications in the Windows environment.

Bah, I'm learning something new every day. Just happens that I've written quite a few AutoPlay event handlers so I know where they get registered for different media types.

I'm actually working on a Media Foundation filter for another Seven forum member for playing shorten files (SHN) so that I learn more about Media Foundation.

@RHE09- Please let me know if it works.

Sorry to post spam but I've gotten confirmation from two users that this fixes the issue. If a moderator mark as SOLVED I'd appreciate.

That made no sense only if seeing how I just showed how in Vista it does.

Sir, my hat's off to you. I tried that but only got as far as the first two keys. The rest I was clueless as to what to do. It worked like a charm. Thanks again. Issue solved.
