Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

What codecs are inside the MKV?

If it contains formats supported by Win7 natively, For example H264, AC3, etc, you only need Haali Media Splitter.

Are you using any codecs packages at all?

Also, that message seems to indicate you are accessing a library that no longer exists.
Make sure the Win7 librarys are setup correctly.

Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit

Have a look at this article here. . Should be useful to decide which way you wan't to go.

And if you are not very particular to use only WMP/WMC, you may install Media Player Classic - Home Cinema and try it with your mkvs.
