I really did not want to start a flame war on the subject. I know too little myself about the intrinsic details of Codecs to argue the subject. But the man who wrote the article is an MVP on the matter and I always gave good advice. Besides, I had my own problems with codec packs and since I uninstalled them, there is peace in the box.
It seems like codec packs are like AV/firewall solutions - everybody has a favorite, some work better than others for different folks.

Expert opinions are still just that - opinions. A close reading of the article will show that his main objection to codec packs is a lack of attention to detail by the builders.

Shark isn't selling anything, and he started this as a way of helping friends with stuff he had built for himself, according to his site. If his stuff has a problem, he jumps on it. That's pride of ownership. Give it a shot, and know that if you have a problem, he will try to help - personally.

FWIW - I've never met Shark, I only know him by his passion for his work.

Fair enough. I am sure Shark does a fine job. But I don't need codecs. If I have something that does not fit, I convert it with Format Factory. Works for me. But usually my stuff is not exotic. I like to keep things simple.

And shark? You say xiph.org is gonna destroy my system? How and by doing what?
The current xiph.org installers wipe out a portion of WMP's registry which destroys the open dialog of WMP and uninstalling the xiph codecs does not fix it. The fact that you dont know it is doing this is just more proof how lame your analysis of anythng codec related is.

As for the rest of your rant, pull you head out of the clouds. Maybe back off on the coffee.

your points 1,2,3,4 document nothing but your own inability to properly come to a conclusion. Please go on though, I could use more useless input from you. This time, please make an effort to substantiate the issue with some proof other than your own dreams.

My codecpack didnt destroy your system, you destroyed it yourself.
And your lack of knowledge continues to destroy other peoples systems.

Dont you find it odd that thousands of people use my codecs without issue,
but YOU needed to wipe out a harddrive?

Do the math, and lick you own, you can probably reach em. :bozone

Thats some really fast re-action from Avast.
I only sent them my scripts a few days ago.
Or did you have to set an exception to allow my software to be ignored?

Because of Avast's quick resolve in these matters,
I have switched my personal system protection to using Avast also.
