Recording too late missing beginning of shows

As per title, I have set the TV recorder defaults to start recording 15 mins early and still, the recordings are beginning late!!!
As a result I miss half of the show and have to delete it.

It seems as though the time for the shows are wrong from the guide data e.g. it will say X show starts a 8.06pm instead of 8pm.

The guide always gives an error during setup, yet there is guide data so something isn't working properly.

I think the error is something like, there is no guide for your post code..?
I just entered the post code for Sydney Australia and it still didn't work...

    Why is this happening?

Is your time in the tray correct?
If not, you can right click on the time, select Adjust Date/Time.
Select Change date and time. Input the correct time. press OK.
Choose the Internet Time tab and select Change settings.
    Select Update now.

If you didn't get an error, then Windows has successfully synched with the server and your time should be correct.

If that doesn't correct the problem, check Media Center's settings for the DVR function. One of the options sets the amount of time to start recording before the scheduled program start. Another controls how long the recorder should continue to run after the scheduled end of the program.

I find that some of the broadcast networks in the USA have taken to starting programs at :59 of the hour preceding the scheduled start time (I'm talking about you, NBC) and others do not do a commercial insert prior to the start of certain programs, so I set Media Center to start recording two minutes prior to the scheduled start of the program.
