Media Player and Media Center Hang when playing videos

I have recently installed Win 7 Ultimate
When playing video files in Media Player or Media Center they will hang up periodically a few secs / mins then continue again.

No errors show up in the event logs, except for alot of services entering start and stop state.

I have the latest Win 7 NVDIA graphics driver installed.

Other apps also hang periodicaly for a few seconds and then return to working order again, but now as much as the videos.

    Has anyone else experienced this?
What can I do to resolve this as I am not keen on having to go back to Vista.

    Thanks

Perhaps the video driver needs to be rolled back. Check out this thread:

It's about various applications freezing. Using an older nVidia driver seems to help.

First things first could you go to the lower left corner of your post and put in your system specs so we know what hardware you have

NVIDIA site only has the latest.
