I have not been able to get TODVRMS to convert any .wtv files not directly nor with the GUI to TODVRMS.

I will wait for MCEBuddy or buy the program wtv2avi (from dvrsoft)

I have given up and spend another € 20,- on a tool from DVRsoft. These tools work and do not require commands, command-lines but work with one button. Thanks to all of you for trying to help me !

PowerDirector 7 will convert to mpeg2 upon importing. It's not actually converting anything, but extracting the mpeg2. I then use videoredo to edit commercials out.

PowerDirector 7 converts wtv to mpeg2. Then you can use videoredo, or whatever for editing.

Why would you want to convert to dvr-ms?

I used eRightSoft Super to convert about any type of media to any other type, including .wtv to .avi. Work great and cost nothing! Absolutely free. SUPER © .
Weird web site and it's difficult to get the program but don't give up, it's worth the effort.

My 7048 build converts wtv to dvr-ms natively. Just right click the wtv file and convert. Not sure if later builds included this.

I can confirm there is a right-click convert option in newer builds. Tested on 7077 x64.

Be aware that there will be a copy of the file roughly the same size if you're running low on space.

DVRMSToolbox will convert wtv files automatically and you can use LifeExtender to remove the commercials after the DVRMSToolbox is dune with the conversion.
Best Part is there both Free! (LifeExtender is best free commercial tool)

Just have DVRMSToolbox monitor Media Center Record folder,
it will automatically convert when it see's a new file,
then automatically move completed conversions to a LifeExtender Work folder & delete original.
Now have LifeExtender monitor the Work folder remove its commercials automatically when it see's a new file, then move the commercials free file back to the MC Record folder.
So that Media Center can see it.
And if you want to take it a step farther you can have Life Extender Hand the file back to DVRMSToolbox and it can reconvert the now commercial free file to an compressed avi or what ever container you like so you can archive it.
And they will do it all with out asking a thing. Like 2 peas in a pod working together along with Media Center.
And you will be able to enjoy those pesky wtv files like never before!
