Windows Media Center Setup Changed permisions of music folders

Generally speaking, I've avoided Windows Media Player and Center like the plague. I've never liked the "auto-detection" of mp3 files. I know it may not seem like a big deal, but I much prefer being able to pick specific folders and files to add to a main library.

At any rate, this post isn't all about why I don't like WMP/C, but its because of a major problem I encountered today. Like most people, I've had an xbox for several years now. A few years ago I set up my computer to stream music to my xbox. It was cool for awhile and it worked fine, but eventually i just stopped using it. Today I decided i would use it again, but i found that wasn't working. No problem, its been a few years and sometimes settings just get lost. I go out on the web to find a guide again that would tell me how to do it, which led me to http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/audio-video-setup-and-use/media. At the part where I name my library and hit "OK", my "OK" button is grayed out. Okay i told myself, as a last ditch effort i know i could try and set up windows media center again. Again, i went to Xbox's support at http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/audio-video-setup-and-use/xbox-360-as-media-player-mcewindows7. Everything was set up fine and dandy and everything worked.

Now here is where my problem rises. I get back on my desktop to check something in my "My Music" folder. I get the "You need administrative privileges pop-up", which i thought was weird but i hit continue and it worked fine. Now, whenever i try to open ANY folder, sub-folder, or file, not only does it try to tell me i need admin privileges, once i hit continue it says that i don't have permission to that folder, etc.

I THINK that if i were to go in and reset all the permissions that everything would be fine, but i've got a pretty large library and it could take forever to do that. Is there a simpler way, or a setting that i can change so that Windows Media Center doesn't block me from my own files?

Everything was still locked out other than the stuff that had been played. And like I said it was only the immediate folder. So:
Artist Folder(locked) > Album Folder (unlocked) > Songs(unlocked)

I right clicked on the root of the directory and checked to see the ownership was still me, and it said it was. Despite that i still went through the process of making me the owner, and i ticked the "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects". I then instantly had access to all folders and files, however every thing has a lock on the icon. So far that doesn't seem to affect me, but you made it sound like you had a way to get rid of those lock icons? If so, could you walk me through that.
