wintv hvr 1600 no qam signal?

I have a qam capable wintv 1600 (with 74041 tuner). Win7 recognize it and install driver without problem. SD cable TV is very good in media center. However I couldn't get any qam channels. My cable tv is comcast classic. Anyone has better luck?

I, too, am running into trouble like that. I JUST got the TV Pack 08 working in VMC with the regkey put out by hauppauge. And I thought for SURE that I wouldn't have to do that with Win 7 but MAYBE. Have you tried running the Registry Key? As in, the one below if you are unfamilier with it.

The Green Button - Clear QAM and the 1600

I'm a smart but not smart enough to know if that key will screw up something in the Win 7 registry forcing yet ANOTHER full install. (I've had about 7 full Reinstalls in the past week and not sure I have the patience for another right now) Anyway, let me know if you hear anything? Later!

DUDE! It will work! Install that registry key and you too will get to enjoy wonderful HD in Win 7!
    Missing Remote

I recommend doing it like this, (please note that I haven't done this yet but will do it tonight):

    1. Download latest 4.6A+ Drivers from Hauppauge:
    Support for WinTV-HVR-1600

    2. Delete previous drivers, and then run the "hcwclear" thing from the NEW Hauppauge drivers folder to get rid of all remnants.

    3. Restart

    4. Ignore any "New hardware found messages"

    5. Install Hauppauge 4.6A+ Driver

    6. Run Registry Key (The Green Button - Clear QAM and the 1600)

    7. Restart

    8. Have W7MC search for tv signals again!

    Enjoy HD!

Again, I haven't tried it but that is EXACTLY what I'll be doing and I'll post results later once I've tried it. Good Luck!

Thank you. After adding the reg key, I can select QAM from signal source now. Now the only problem is guide doesn't work. I have to manually add every channels. Anyway, it's working and I am enjoy hd tv now.
I am still using the win7 default driver at the moment. Tried to install the latest wintv driver but win7 claimed it's up to date.

Awesome Igloo! I got mine working on lunch as well. The big test is tonight when it needs to record, HIMYM, Big Bang Theory, House, 24 and Worst Week. Some at the same time. We'll see how it does!

I have the similar problem. I tried everything that is ARGuck has indicated, and now MCE does find the QAM tuner, but it can't find any channel when it does scan. My TV with QAM Tuner finds all the Broadcast Channels fine, so I know it is available.

Anyone can think of anything that I am doing wrong? I have manually edit the reg file to put the entry, and it seems that everything is working, but just can't find any channel.

Sorry some of this may sound condescending but is not meant to.

Did you make sure to fully uninstall the previous driver for your Hauppauge 1600? AND run the hcwclear program/script? and then restart before installing the new downloaded hauppauge 4.6A+ driver?

Did you restart after running the reg key?

Did you let the computer fully complete the search for digital signals? Mine didn't find any until the last like 25% of it's search.

Sorry that's about the best I can do without just saying, try reinstalling the drivers. I'm not sure about reinstalling the regkey, I don't know what that would do BUT if W7MC is seeing the QAM in the first place you probably have the reg key installed correctly.

Actually, do the QAM channels show up when you have your TV (direct cable connection, bypassing PC) search for digital channels?

Well, yes, I did everything like removing the old drivers twice, and let the Window7 scan the channels several times without any success. One thing I have not done is to remove the PC, and take it to the leaving room where the TV has found QAM Channels.

No, dude, I am not worried about you sounding condesending at all. I am glad that you were able to respond.

Yes, I had trouble importing the regfile, so I had to manually add, and after successfully editing the regfile, Windows 7 did see my tuner as one Analog and one QAM/ATSC Tuner.

Yes, I did reload after the registry editor. Yes, I did let Window fully search 100%time like 6 to 7 times without any success. It takes a long time I might add to do the scanning.

I have Comcast Cable Connections, and most of my QAM channels are coming as like 82-x to 87-9, and it works great on my 65 in Olevia thanks to woot.com
