Windows 7: Windows Media Center crashed

Windows Media Center crashed

I started watching an OTA recording with WMC7 and about 2 minutes into it WMC7 stopped. A message came up saying it stopped & had options to restart WMC or go online (which appeared to send info to MS) and a 3rd option I don't recall. I just restarted & everything worked just fine.

I looked at event logs & found this. I did a search for that ntdll.dll but could not find a definitive answer to what caused the problem. The typical comments were to reboot or reinstall software. Is there anything from this listing that tells or hints at what caused WMC to stop?

Which tuner are you using?

AVerMedia Duet tuner, model MTVHDDUWB.

The recording had already been completed & I was just playing it back. And nothing else was being recorded at this time. I clicked on restart WMC and the recording proceeded to play perfectly. FWIW I did run chkdsk to check for problems & there were none.

Here's what's been happening. I was using Irfanview on the HTPC to view some jpg photos that were on another Homegroup PC. Windows stopped working on the HTPC & I got a blue screen, but not the usual BSOD. This was a lighter blue with quite a bit of text. Window automatically restarted before I could read everything & everything appeared to function properly.

I did a sfc /scannow and nothing was wrong.

Later I was watching an OTA recording & Media Center stopped worked about 5 minutes into the video. The Events Log displayed another Faulting application name: ehshell.exe.

However this time it was Faulting module name: sbe.dll, version: 6.6.7601.17528.

I did quite a bit of Googling & it appears this dll is needed for some WMC functions. I found several sources in order to download another copy of it but am not sure which source is safe. Should I try replacing this dll with a new copy, & if so where should I get a copy/

might be able to give you another look at the bluescreen you saw and didn't have time to read. Blue screen of death (STOP error) information in dump files.

Another source of info that I rely on when it comes to the HTPC is
