Cannot make Media Center my default DVD player...

When I try to play a DVD on my laptop, the default player is WMP, but I'd like to make DVDs run with Media Center. Is this possibile? I have already gone into Start-Default Programs-Choose a Default Media Player and chosen Media Center. but this seems to have had no effect. If I try Start-Default Programs-Change Autoplay Settings, I find that Windows Media Centre is not even included amongst the possible dvd players.
Is there a way to get around this? Thanks to all whoever can be bothered replying.

    try adding wmc to autoplay...

How to Restore Missing Windows Media Center AutoPlay Entries in Windows 7 - The Winhelponline Blog

once added you should be able to select wmc as default in autoplay settings.
then when inserting a dvd it will open in wmc automatically
