WMC Live TV freezes with constant HDD activity

For the last 2 months or so Live TV freezes fairly regularly for 10-15 seconds with a solidly lit hard disk light. Prior to this it had performed pretty much glitch-free. I have tried numerous troubleshooting steps including restoring an image that I am fairly confident I created before the problem started. I have tried different graphics drivers, scanned for malware, verified system files (sfc /scannow), chkdsk, defragged, run disk checking utilities, removed most startup items, etc. I have tried to pinpoint what is causing the disk activity using Resource monitor, process hacker, etc but I'm not confident that I have been using them correctly. It only appears to happen during Live tv - bluray and dvd playback doesn't appear to be a problem, but I use TMT5 rather than WMC for them. I have included my SF Diagnostic file and would be very grateful for any assistance
    Cheers

While we wait for more experienced suggestions, I'll suggest what I always do first when things don't act right: Open the case and clean the fans and fins on every device that generates heat. Once you eliminate heat as the culprit you can move on to something else.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I keep the fans clean and monitor temps

Have you solved your problem yet?

Seems like i am pretty much exactly in the same boat. Live TV started freezing recently after working flawlessly for a year and I have also pinpointed to random activity peak of 100% on the hard drive where WMC recorded TV and TV buffer is. Ran several tests and diagnostics on this drive and it appears to be fine and healthy...

I have tried most of the things you did too and can't offer much help other than some things that I still need to check and that maybe you have not done yet:
    - Does live TV freezes also on SD channels? Or only on HD?
    - Can you move the Recorded TV folder to another hard drive on your system? Even an external one temporarily to see whether the drive is the culprit...

I know you and I would much much rather not get to that, but a complete windows re-install might be the last resort...my WAF is plummeting right now, can't go on much longer...:)
