have you tried disconnecting from all computers in the xbox settings blade and restarting the whole process?

is the xbox connecting via wireless or is the computer or both?

i know this sounds kinda obvious but iv made the mistake before... once the xbox gives you the code make sure you hit next to goto the next screen while it waits for the connection
    There are no computers connected.

Both Xbox and Computer are wirelessly connected.

I definitely hit Next as it proceeds through the steps and does it make it passed the 2nd step.

I cannot for the live of me figure this out.

There is a password set to access the router, as well as a wpa2 key.

I'm using the LinkSys WRT54g but using Tomato Firmware instead of Linksys's garbage firmware.

I can connect to Xbox Live without a problem. Unpnp is enabled on the router.

is it possible to connect the 360 or the computer to the router with an ethernet cable just to set it up and test?

Ya, I could temporarily connect the xbox to the wireless router, run it mixed mode to see if any of the wireless settings are restricting the xbox and windows media center pc from communicating.
