    Help needed with WMC gadget

Won't install on my desktop, just hangs with spinning silver wheel.

Tried to reinstall gadget from Internet download, but fails saying I need Windows Sideshow Runtime 1.0 installed.

Tred to install SideShow Runtime and failed with many errors.

    I'm running Windows 7 64-bit

    Any help appreciated

The one from the internet (windows live gallery) is for sideshow. It isn't the same as the normal desktop gadgets. It's different.

You tried the default Windows one from the right clicking the desktop and going to the Gadgets window?

I had a problem with the WMC gadget in earlier Windows 7 builds, and I also had it disappear after doing a Repair Install, but haven't in later builds.

    You can try this -

    Gadgets - Restore Default Gadgets

Or you can try going to Programs and Features -Turn Windows Features On and Off, un check Windows Gadget Platform, reboot, let it configure, go to back to it and re check it, then try to add the one from the gadget window.

    Hi Airbot,

Well at least I got the original WMC gadget back in the library, thank you for that.

Unfortunately the gadget is still spinning it's wheel and going nowhere.

What Windows 7 build is it? the RTM final, the RC? I had the same problem with the gadget in RC or below if I remember. I never did figure out what was wrong with it. After going to later builds it was working for me. Have you already setup WMC? I really don't know what else to suggest, maybe someone else will know a solution.

    Hi Airbot,

It's the Final build, just converted from Vista. It's a nasty little glitch but can certainly live without the gadget. Something obviously went wrong. Yes, WMC works perfect.
