MC has taken over whole system via file associations. How to stop it?

With symptom of increasingly slow Firefox I suspected malware. Ran malwarebytes but it hung up on data base update. Then non-updated program froze.Reset Firefox then ran no.2 on their recommended malware list: SuperAntiSpyware. It found 5 malwares hijacking Firefox searches etc.Continued-I got curious and loaded Win Explorer to see which files it had reached.
Bad move: program immediately stopped. And a 'file associations' message displayed a switch to Media Center. But then I found that ALL my programs, running or not, loaded Media Center!
Hence solution above on 20 May no use for me as cannot reach such window options -I get Media Center first. System boots with MC full screen. Win Explorer works - for 10 seconds, then to MC.
Tried: Safe Mode... various deletions... so now, deleting Media Center. But not possible.
    Help!
(as I can run no other programs, I am writing this on a different computer)
