Making WMC "see" Video_ts.ifo file types

is there a way in which to force MC to see *.IFO file types? i have 98% of my movies archived on my external hd in the Video_ts.IFO format.

i have klite codec pack install and so i am able to watch *.IFO files with either media classic or thru WMP12.

the problem that caused this is MC locks up when trying to access the files when the folder is associated with the movie library (see my prior thread: Media Center locks when looking thru movie thumbs ). however, when i have the exact same folder associated with the video library, i have no problems watching the movies...which is odd in my opinion. how is it able to work in the video library and not in the movie library?

also, i moved a couple of the movie folders over to the main hd and tried to associate that folder w/in MC...i found that i was not able to associate a folder that has *.IFO files in either the video or movie library w/in MC. that's when i noticed that i had a couple .avi files in the main movie folder that's on my external hd and that was the reason i was able to associate the folder w/in MC in the first place.

which brings me back to the purpose of this can i get MC to see .IFO files? i can play the files no problem, but MC just doesn't "see" them by themselves.

and my secondary question is why can MC play the files no probs in the video library but not in the movie library?

thanks in advance for any assistance...

Windows 7 Home Premium

i cant believe no ones responded to this. I found a great thread for solving this problem in Windows Vista, its involved one registry change which was very simple but it doesn't work in windows 7 64 bit home edition for me.

I have the same problem, some times in media center it will play the sound but ussualy nothing at all. Under movies my video shows up as it should but when i click on it to watch it, its says. cannot find file, etc.

How to: play ripped DVDs on Vista Media Center

View all file types when saving with "Save as"
Hi, When saving a file using "Save as" (From Office, for example), I can see in the target folder only the files matching the selected type. Is there an option to see all file types immediately, regardless of the selected file type? This would be very helpful, especially when looking for files...

WMC suddenly showing unwanted file types in "Pictures."
Formerly WMC only showed .jpg and .tiff files. Now it's suddenly, and without any prompting on my part, showing my raw .cr2 files. Because I don't want the codec installed to view them (making their deletion by accident more difficult and helping to speed up my system), they just show as grey...

How do I add file types to "Right-Click->New->" in Windows Explorer
I find myself creating batch files on a regular basis. At the moment I have to Right Click, New, Text Document, rename... It takes so long! So I was wondering if there was any way to add a file type to that menu you get when right-clicking->new. In case you don't understand what I mean...

How to easily change the "Type" description of file types in Explorer
G'day everyone After doing some Googling I discovered that it is impossible in Windows 7 to sort files by file extension -- one can only sort by file type, which depends on the file type description. This means that if I want to sort by file type, I need to rename the type descriptions of all...

Hi there, I didn't really know how to google for this (although I did), so I didn't find anything proper and like to ask you: How do I remove the "labels" from drive types in "Computer" window? What I mean: These labels above the different...
