Media Center wont play through USB Video converter

I am using USB to HDMI converter. TV it is attached to works fine with PC display but not with windows media center. Get the error message "Files needed to display video are not installed or are not working correctly. Restart Media center or computer" each time I plug in the usb device and try to play a recordedTV wmv video. Otherwise it works fine on PC monitor alone. Whats the problem? Can it be fixed? I am using Cable matters "Cable Matters SuperSpeed USB 3.0/2.0 to HDMI/DVI Adapter for Windows and Mac up to 2048x1152/1920x1200" with windows 7. Is there another make and model that will work?

Just guessing here, but it might be a content protection issue. AFAIK the whole chain from TV signal (ie WMC) to monitor has to be HDCP compliant. I think this is to stop people intercepting the signal, recording TV shows and putting them on Pirate Bay etc. Another guess - a regular video card feeding an HDCP monitor or TV would be OK.

Maybe your USB gizmo doesn't fit the HDCP specs.
