    Windows Media Centre recording overlap

I have recently got an freeview turner for my computer, i have put a few programs on series record, one program always starts early even though i told windows media to to start recording 5 minute early as default i still do not get the beginning of this program. Also there is another program that is after another program that i want on the same channel and i always get beginning of the second on the end of the last, if this a DVD/Hard drive recorder i would set it to record the first and the second in one go and split it at the end. Also another problem is one program has three in row on the same channel and get same problem as the last case. Is there a way i can set windows media centre like a recorder e.g. tell it to recorder channel 1 Monday - Friday from 12:57 -15:03.

Regarding 3 programs in a row - under advanced record, you can set stop time up to 3 hrs later (in 30 min steps). I find VideoRedo OK for trimming WMC recorded content (not free).

You can record multiple back to back programmes on the same channel by doing a manual recording, you set the channel, date/day, start and end times. Select "add recording".

There's no way to do it if you need to change channels.

Media Portal can record multiple programmes simultaneously (from one tuner), if they are on the same Freeview MUX and will record back to back recordings on the same channel/MUX with pre and post times.

I can't categorically state that it would not be a problem, you might want to post on the MP forums, the guide is downloaded over the air so you don't need one for that, the only area I can think of would be installation, I only run the server bit and I don't think it needs to access anything online to run
