Windows Media Center From Comcast Feed, Sr. Citizen Questions ?

    Hello,

Just got a new Comcast DVR box, and was dismayed to learn that there is no way of downloading to an external HD, e.g., anything you recorded. Comcast claims copyright infringements, etc. etc.

But someone mention Windows Media Center as being able to do this.

Guess I need a "video Card".
    True ?

And, how does this work ?
e.g., what feeds the video in to the card ?

Do I have to run a line from my normal Comcast box output to the PC ? Or,...?
(the Box to the TV is an HDMI) Would I use a "T" to split to the TV and my PC ?

Or does it come into the card via the normal PC Ethernet ?

Anyone make an external "module" that would do this, or are these video boards
only internal on a PCI Bus ?

Really know nothing at all about any of this.

If anyone could educated me a bit on how it is wired, how it all works together, and what I need, would
    be most appreciative.

    Thanks,
    Bob

It can be done, you will need a Cable tuner with cable card which installs into your computer. Copy protection is decrypted so you can watch and record once on the same machine.
You will also need 8 to 10 gb hard drive space per hour of recording
