Extender disconnects when Windows 7 resumes from S3 state.

I have some trouble trying to troubleshoot an issue I have with my xbox 360 extender and Windows 7.

    Problem:
Xbox 360 MCE connection problems when Windows 7 machine resumes from S3 state.

    Workaround:
As a workaround, I have to restart the Windows 7 machine and have the Xbox 360 reconnect. No problems after doing so.

    Steps to reproduce issue:
    1. Bring Windows 7 machine to S3 state (sleep/hibernate-all fans off)
    2. Wake the Windows 7 machine.
    3. Launch Media Center on Xbox 360
    4. A network error is displayed or it enters Media Center, but as soon as you traverse through the start menu, the blue network screen error appears.

    5. Reboot the Windows 7 machine and connect with Xbox 360 again, the problem goes away.

Anyone have any suggestions on how I can fix this?

    Thanks in advance.

My guess is that the HD being stopped in S3 is making things difficult....

Thanks for the reply Johngalt...I wonder why its specific to the Xbox 360. I have connected with other machines via RDP on windows xp and vista to the windows 7 box and no problems from S3 state. The only way I can think of troubleshooting is getting another extender like linksys and do the same test. Also I was thinking of looking into all the processes that are needed for the extender functionality and just look at how many processes are running with the extender connected after a reboot and after a resume from S3 state, then compare. Whatcha think?

Ok..after some searching..this is has not been a problem specific to Windows 7. This has been discussed in media center forums using vista. If someone else is having this issue, fix it by doing the following:
-Open your network adapter power property.
-Disable or uncheck "Allow Computer to turn off this device to save power"
-Now you can hibernate/sleep, then automatically wake the computer with the xbox 360 without problem.

Huge thank you!!! Found this thread via google... I run 3 HTPC's off a gigbit network with a main media server running MY Movies. Well eveytime I came out of S3 sleep it would lock the PC, I guess looking for the previous connection and the only way out was to wait 10 min to get the program not responding, or hard reboot. At any rate disabling powersaving on the nic card SOLVED!!!

THANK YOU, it was driving me nuts for months!
