    Windows Media Center Guide Suddenly Slow

    Anyone else notice the guide get extremely slow? I have 2 PC's setup, one on a tv in the living room and one in the bedroom using an HD Homerun Prime cable card. It seems to me about a month ago every time I go to the guide you get the spinning wheel and it sits there for a minute. Its now consistently happening each day.

    Basically, you must have a bluetooth/wireless keyboard/mouse attached to your computer. Unplug the dongle, and the problem is resolved!

    Of course, if anyone can figure out a logical connection between a TV guide and a bluetooth dongle, you can have the Chief Software Architect job at Microsoft.

    Actually, I place the timing about when this issue first really started happening to when MS Guide moved from Zap2it to Rovi last year.

    And yet another reason to scrap MS Guide and go with EPG123. You don't have to download the Guide info for 800 channels (even if you only watch say 75 and thus have only 75 checked in "Edit Channels"). With EPG123 you now only download the Guide info for those 75 channels (or for whatever is your checklist)! This makes the data file loaded when you go into Guide functions a fraction of the size of the standard MS Guide file. So the Guide data appears more quickly, scrolling and searching takes much less time, etc.

    Net result is an amazingly speeded up overall Guide functionality. Just one more plus for going to EPG123.

    Do yourself a favor => EPG123.
