Recording TV to NAS drive becoming unreliable, but hopefully fixed

I've been using the registry hack to record to a path on a network drive for several years now.

Lately, it has become less reliable, either with zero-length recordings, or with black recordings. Also, Media Center often failed to create a snapshot for recordings.

It seems that the problem may be due to delays in accessing network shares by computer name. This may be due to a mixture of OS's, Homegroups and/or Workgroups, and changes to computers responsible for managing those groups.

I have now changed the MCE network path for Recorded TV in the registry to use the actual IP address, rather than the computer name, and this has dramatically improved the situation.

Hope this helps, if you are experiencing similar issues.
