I'm on Shark007.net. It is chocked full of Google advertisements that look like the codec download: Codecs Win 7, Download Codec, Free Codecs, Codecs Windows, Vista Codecs, Codecs DivX, Codecs Install, MCE Codec, Codecs Audio, Codecs WMP, Codecs Player.

Which link do I want? The site could really use an obvious download link with all of the cleverly disguised advertising trying to distract me.

I ultimately downloaded the "Codec Pack" at the bottom of the page, but it linked to another site that gave me the file "ffdshow.exe" - Is this what I want?

I'm sorry for all the advertising crap but it does give me a few $$ every month so the ads will continue. While on the information page for the Win7codecs, near the bottom, you will see a MajorGeeks Download logo; that is the correct link to download my software from.

MajorGeeks.com is the one and only official mirror.

K-lite is a good codec for playing flash video on wmp 12. ffdshow.exe is one of the processes that will run after it's installed.. otherwise.. VLC will play flv right out of the box, takes less resources than wmp and has a much less convoluted interface.

Thanks! I downloaded the wrong one, but I had not installed it yet.

Does someone have a valid link, been to shark's web site, cannot find a valid link to download the codec. It appears to be a spam site.

I've given up on WMP and will stay with Real Player, which also downloads. Too bad WMP. MS, still behind the times.

I'm using shark's codecs, and don't have problems at all with flv files, watching with WMP. The codecs are doing the job pretty well. So, no, its not farce

RP lets you download and save flv files. With win 7, RP needs Adobe Flash Player 10 and Adobe Flash Player 10 Active x.

Works great. You also need to be sure that WMP is installed in Windows Features.

Grimmjow; I could not get it to work on my computer? Win7 Pro. 32B system. I'm not sure why MS doesn't make media easier?

    Have a good day.

On the help TAB of the Shark007 Settings Application, if you choose to associate files to the Windows players, it will allow playback in both WMP and MC and even enable the preview pane for all newly enabled filetypes in the Windows Explorer view.

There is also a SUGGESTED settings checkbox at the bottom of the settings application which will get almost anything playing in the Windows players. The suggested settings do break digital LiveTV (anolog is still fine) and if that is important to you, go to the SWAP TAB and uncheck the items under the LiveTV warning message.
