DLNA

DLNA - Until yesterday when my new TV arrived, I'd never heard of this. Now I'm trying to get to grips with it so that I can connect my PC via my network to my TV, so that I can send photos and videos on my PC to the TV. I should also (I think) be able to use the TV to select what photos or videos I want to display.
Before I struggle any further with this, am I correct in my expectations? Should I be able to shove one end of a Cat5 cable into the relevant TV socket, the other into a spare socket in my router and then see and select my PC folders on the TV?
The TV came with a code to download and use a thing called TwonkyMedia but I gather Windows Media Player will do the same.

With your TV connected to your LAN and configured properly, can you see it in Network?

I tried with a Cat 6 cable I had and all that I got was a flashing light on my Netgear DG834PN router. Auto configuration on TV reported "no cable connected". Cable wiring checked and seems OK. Instructions specify a Cat5e cable but that shouldn't be an issue. Will try with a different cable when I get one and see if that makes any difference (I had trouble with a Cat 6 cable before - may be the same one!). Will also try a manual setup rather than the TV's auto method.
